John represents a variety of clients in both personal and business matters. He concentrates his practice in the areas of commercial litigation, land use and zoning matters, contractual disputes, and fraud and misrepresentation investigations.

In his practice, John has:

  • served as general counsel for Horvath Communications, Inc., a leading developer of wireless communications towers nationwide;
  • defended automobile manufacturers in breach of warranty claims in state and federal courts;
  • defended Indiana state agencies in various tort litigation cases;
  • defended a leading North American provider of EIFS, stucco, and special finishes and coatings in mold litigation cases;
  • represented one of the world's largest video rental chains in a real estate dispute;
  • defended one of the largest public U.S. real estate companies in several premises liability cases;
  • represented a family-owned independent container manufacturer in breach of contract, and fraud and misrepresentation claims;
  • advised a local commercial maintenance company in general litigation and employment matters;
  • advised a regional restaurant franchisor regarding trademark infringement matters; and
  • represented multiple financial institutions in breach of contract and collections matters.

John is a former Special Agent with the Federal Bureau of Investigation. John's work in the FBI focused primarily on investigating white collar crimes including bank fraud, health care fraud, bankruptcy fraud, social security fraud, and environmental crimes. John was the FBI's co-lead investigator in the Salt Lake City Olympics bribery investigation. Also, he participated in other high profile FBI cases including the Oklahoma City bombing case and the Montana Freemen case.

In 2000, John worked as an associate attorney with a Kansas City, Missouri firm, where he focused on personal injury litigation. He moved home to South Bend in 2001 and, from 2001 until April 2006, he practiced as an attorney in a general civil litigation firm in South Bend.

John is admitted to practice in the federal and state courts in Indiana and Missouri, and is a member of the St. Joseph County and the Indiana State Bar Associations. John is an adjunct criminal justice faculty member in Indiana Tech's College of Professional Studies.

John was born in Springfield, Massachusetts. In addition to Indiana, John has lived in Nebraska, Virginia, New York, New Jersey, Utah, and Missouri. John received a B.A. in political science from Indiana University in 1985. He received a M.A. in education from Seton Hall University in 1988. John graduated from the Valparaiso University School of Law in 1996.
